Title: HOW ABOUT THESE MODS
Post by: kmohr on September 05, 2011, 02:47:17 PM
Ok I have a 1.3 with 94k original miles, I have my list and about to make my purchases this week.  Motor is out and on the ground. So tell me what you think. Before you say it a 1.6 8v or 16v swap is not an option. So here we go

1. Shave the head and block
2. HCFT Pistons, rockers
3. Isky Cam the one for more top end (MUD)
4. DT Header
5. 4.9:1 Transfer Gears (damn they are expensive)
6. 44mm Harley Carb
7. Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch (damn they are expensive)
8. HV Oil Pump

As I have stated before, this will be my second vehicle for running around and sometimes work. I will flat tow it to my hunt club where it is just trails in the SC Low Country, and an occasional mud pit. Any comments or suggestions??  I hope I havent forgot anything. I am running 31x10.5 Super Swampers, stock axles, SPOA, and Spartan Locker in the rear.

I would do number five and number seven but would use a petroworks dual friction setup. or go with the eight valve 1.6 and be done with it.

Everyone I know running the harley carb has been happy with them as well.  As for the motor, I prefer they work rather then build them up.  If I want more power, go with a 1.6.  Everyone has their own opinion on that though.  :)

I'd go with the carb, the stock carb is too small for maximum power. My second choice would probably be the gears, what size tyres are you running?
