Well two moron's didn't show up for work for 2 day's and my partner fired them today when they came in today. So I had to stop working on my toy and roll up my sleeves and come out of retirement since it leaves us with only one employee. This is what it looks like with just the front done and no body lift yet. (needed the lift to get some of the customers vehicles done) :-[

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the hub assembly get mounted on the top of the front control arms?
As shown on the Zukiworld install article:

I just did what it said per instructions of Calmini's Install packing instructions and they're photo given in the installation instructions.
-
hummm good point. i never noticed.
-
dam, i hope when im 39 i can be retired ;) ;D hope you find some good mechanics

You gain a little more lift with the ball joint
on the other side of the A-Arm, it's about
3/4 to 1" higher, so all you guys looking
for a little more, make the switch.
Wild
-
The only problem with that switch is it makes the angle even worse and a tight fit for the CV boot. Rubs on the Arm.
From what I've heard.
But, I'm still thinkin about doing it too. ;D :D
-
Wouldn't a little grinding of the A-arm make some extra clearance for the CV boot?
If you do switch the knuckle around, could you put the tierod in on the top of the knuckle, or would you have to taper the hole to do that?

You guys are forgetting about the bumpsteer you will get from not having the lower arms angle alligned with the tierod angle.

NOW I get it. :)

Mine is on top, and have not had any probs, I am sure that is what the instructions said to do, unless I went by the Zukiworld info. No probs though Kreg is running the same way as well, and know with the winch and Calmini front bumper, I am going to have to put in spacers as it is starting to rub on 32's.
Mac
I think I gave my instructions to Kreg, but I am sure the Calmini instruction said to go over top, perhaps Calmini has changed the install, I did have some problems until the winch and bumper went in.
Curious who is running on top and who has theirs on the bottom?
-
I'm switching it to the other way around now. :-/
-
I think there to go on the bottom. I had it that way untill I had front end sag. The tires were tipping in at the top. So I mounted them on top and the wheels straighted right up.
I am also running the Calimini bumper with a warn 8000i wench.
If your staying with the stock bumper I'd put them on the bottom.
-
For all those with the Calmini lift and forgot about the stock configuration, my -7 has them on top of the knuckle and integral of the control arm without a grease zerk. I guess I'll need a new control arm if these stock units wear out.
-
what way are they on a stock tracker?

A stock Tracker has the balljoint conects to the spindle like in the picture.
The control arm (A arm), the ball joint is in the middle between two pieces of sheet metel.

Isn't that representing the ball joint to be on top?

What? Sheetmetal? I think you mean the flat plate.
The ball joint is the ball/socket item secured to the lower control arm via the 3 bolts. The nut securing the ball joint to the knuckle is under the knuckle. I was referring to this setup for the -7.
However, after reviewing the first initial picture and the one in your message, there is a difference to where the ball joint is secured to the lower control arm. In the first pic (front end picture of grille and suspenion), you can clearly see the ball joint assembly (grey in color) bolted below the control arm plate. In your picture, the ball joint assembly is secured above the plate.
With the bj assembly bolted below the control arm plate, I see that how provides a slight lift.
-
In the picture, the ball joint is in the stock placement where it attaches to the "knuckle/spindle" on a Tracker.
On a stock control arm the ball joint is "in the middle between two pieces of sheet metel".  The stock lower is stamped sheet metal.
With the Calimini lift the ball joint with it's 3 bolts are ment to be on top of the control arm.
Mine is now under the control are and it gives me around an inch lift.  I did this only when my front end was saging and I was losing my camber.  Remember I also run the Calimini bumper and a 8000# winch.

I mounted the 32x9.5 R15's today on a nice set of wheels and will post a photo of them when everything is completed. My wife saw the wheels and tires plus the suspension lift and blew a mental gasket when I told her that I still have the body lift to do. She say's ever since the town built the sidewalk too close to her a** she'll need a step ladder to get in it. ;D ;D ;D ;) I aim to please the Zuki 4X4 gods with major lift. Now all I need is the bumpers to come in and the anvil; everything else is here.
Soon I shall have alot of (http://www.gifs.net/animate/$.gif) invested in a nice truck. ;D

I THINK YOU'VE ALLREADY ACCOMPLISHED THAT ;) MATTY 8)

Just don't add it all up ;D
Just think of it as an investment in the entertainment feild. ;D
Or a med-life crisis ;D
-
humm. if i added it all up on mine i might have a whole 1500 bucks into it! ;D and that includes tracker and tires.
