Hello everyone..I'm new here so bare with me. I have an 88 sammy and I installed a new pcv valve bc I was getting a noise from it, its still making a noise at low rpms around idle..anyone know whats wrong? :-X
-
I doubt it is the PCV valve.
What does the noise sound like? Like a tap, or chatter, or ticking? If so, it could be the valves need to be adjusted. Ever done it?
Or it could be a rod or wrist pin/piston knock.
-
it is like a chatter noise and it is coming from the pcv valve..it like its not getting enough vacuum
-
So if you pull the hose off the PCV valve and put your finger over the end of the PCV valve, does it still chatter?
-
Nope..
-
Hmm, odd. I've never heard of a PCV valve chattering.
How much vacuum is your engine pullling? Maybe the vacuum is low and that is what is causing the PCV valve to chatter.
How does the engine run?
-
The sound may be actually from the valvetrain and just travelling out the PCV valve, couldnt hurt to pop the VC and check the valve lash and general condition.

The engine runs fine...Idk about the vaccuum ill check it out. Ive just adjusted the valves a few weeks ago. I think its about time for a rebuild tho
