Title: Baja Spirirted street legal trail rig
Post by: Soupy on September 09, 2011, 10:45:04 AM
So I want to build a baja spirited, street legal wheeler. Something with a windshield, firewall and floor pan. The rest all roll bar. And as many bits to keep it street legal. My potential candidates are a 2002 XL-7, V6, auto and  a 1994 4 door Sidekick - no motor, no tranny.  I'm dreaming of 33" tires and a $5000 budget.  My goal is to have wheels rolling on the ground next April.

For some reason I' am completely intriged by independent suspension on both ends... maybe 8.8 out of a 89- 94 Ford thunderbird. Not sure what in front.

I'm guessing I could go shopping in a weekend and buy everything I need for the Sidekick except the roll cage. I'd have spent my $5000 and still have to assemble it.

The XL-7 has a v-6 alreading in it. so more $$ could go to driveline and roll cage.

Any ideas?

XL7 all the way.  Comfier inside.  The drivetrain in place is a major boon.
