Title: Help me improve my Kick suspension
Post by: cj on May 17, 2004, 03:55:47 PM
I've got a '93 LWB Kick with the Old Man Emu heavy duty suspension(200lb spring rate) and 3/4" coil spacers. It has a 2" bodylift running 33" tires. I'm putting on a steel winchbar and winch and it already has an Optima battery so I need a decent spring rate in the front. At this point I don't want to change to the Calmini 3" suspension but want to know how I can use/modify/improve what I've got. I understand that rotating the rear axle can help but was wondering how I calculate the dimensions for the A-arm spacer and whether a change of shock length &/or coil spacer will help? What about relocating mounting points, strut spacers , longer trailing arms etc?

Anybody  come up with a way to improve on the CV operating angle? I would like to stay IFS at this stage. All suggestions welcomed.

Thanks, CJ  ???

Why do you want to rotate the rear axle. Do you have any noises from the rear end?

I've got almost the same lift with you : RRO OME shocks and springs (medium rate) , 1" coil spacers and 2" bodylift.
After installing the suspension it started whinning and grinding at the back (propably the r&P roulments, but Ive noticed that the angles of the t-case/driveshaft  and the driveshaft/differential are different now.

I think it needs a little bit longer trailling arms and a spacer to the a arm to pull the upper mount of the diff forward.

I haven't done anything yet, but I intend to this summer.
