Title: Roll cage for my 86

i want to cage my sammi front and rear, is it worth buying the cage from petroworks and installing it myself? is it easy? or should i call in some favors and try to fab one myself?  any input is greatly appreciated!!

If you have access to a welder I would recommend the cage from Davesport.  You can get a front weld on kit or a complete roll cage, which is what I run.

I don't know what kind you have but if you have the full cage for the soft top you can still put up the top and take it down right?

Yes, it works fine with the stock soft top.  Here is a picture with the full cage added onto the existing roll bar:
