Title: tracker fuel guage /sender modification
Post by: Spitfire Rick on September 27, 2011, 02:49:36 AM
Ive got a 99 tracker project Im working on  Ive got a 4.3 /7004r  the gauges didnt work so i redid the gauge pod with spedo tach & a fuel gauge.the fuel sending unit is the stock tracker unit & reads 120 ohms =full 32.5ohms=1/2 3 ohms=full
the gauge I have  needs 240ohms =E ,103ohms 1/2,33ohms=F when the sending float is all the way down or empty the gauge reads over 1/2 tank I cant find a gauge that matched the sending unit specs  & if Ive got to modify something I want to modify what Ive already got
any one know of a way to add something like a resistor or ? or a aftermarket 2' guage that will work with my sender ?

i have a yard stick  >:D

have you discussed this with the gauge MFG? they might make a sending unit that can be modified. it's hard to beleive they didnt make a way(possibly inside the guage) to adjust those values. It seems like it would be simple to just have a resistance adjustment that would allow the top and bottom of the gauge to be adjustable, then the gauge would make internal adjustments for the range.

the gauge I used was something I had but is comparable to a lot of gauges  I found this in the internet last night
