Title: Windshield replacement on 94 sammy
Post by: segermech on October 07, 2011, 08:30:17 AM
After 17 years my windshield needs replacing.  I see you can get a winshield and the seal rubber for ~100.  Is this something you can do on your own?  Has anyone done this before?

Doing Samurai windshields is pretty easy because they're mounted old skool with the rubber gasket and do not have any adhesive goop to worry about. Some soapy water and a small rope can make it happen.

Here's a vid of a rubber gasketed windshield on a lessor make's windshield. :) ....but it'll give you the technique.

The Samurai install is actually easier than this.

Thanks Eric for the Video Post !!
I was thinking of replacing my windshield when I get Back home also as mine is getting a real bad
"Sun Glare" haze to it from all the "Sand Blasting" of being trailered/Flat towed over the years. Also it has a couple of
treating chips that could take off at any good trail bump or defroster warm up.
I have a spare windshield from a donor Sammy which I was saving for a "Real" windshield catastrophe.

P.S. I try not to use the term ...Lessor Makes,
                        I use "Off Brand"...."Other Brand"....and even "Brand X"
I like just to "Show Up" these "Other Units" that my friends have on the trail
without having to insult there choices or how they have waisted their money on
                                     inferior rigs.
