Post by: ffhammerhand on October 07, 2011, 08:05:42 PM
I have a spare transmission for my 86 that i think needs to go in due to my current transmission making noise, before i put in the new / old transmission is there anything that i should look for or do before i make the swap?

Would be a good idea to go through the replacement trans to
make sure you don't have to replace the transmission twice  ;)

Buy a factory service manual, go to the 'transmission" section, then go through and check bearings and synchros and gears etc.... the book will tell you in detail how to do any kind of service or rebuild (tear down and reasemble).
