Does anyone know how to make a 4 cylinder tach work with a 6 cylinder? Mine is off about 500rpm at idle and at 2500 reads 3500rpm. Is there a way to put a resister inline? I want to keep the factory tach to keep everything stock looking.

Sorry can't help...but it does remind me of when I stuffed the 327 in my Vega...the stock 4cyl tach read double the actual revs :D

You're using the XL7's ECM tach output and pluggin into the '96 tracker tach, right? Since the newer tach is just a DVM of sorts, this should work. The correct resistor in series with the tach should work. Right? I still need a newer cluster to finish this bit up on my swap...
Aren't the 'little things' a blast? :)

I have a 2001 gauge cluster but its totally bigger than 95 and down,i bought it off ebay for testing purposes. I think if theres a resistor somewhere it's built into the tach head itself?

I tried to connect the OEM tach lead to the
MegaSquirt EFI unit, it freaked out the Stock
ECM and would not run, I think the Tach uses
the pulses from the ECM ground on the coil, so
what you really need is to remove 2 of the ignition
pulses from the tach, OR print out or replace the
faceplate on the tach so the RPM reads correct.
This was an idea I had to correct the bigger tires
and changed speedo readings, just need a clean way
to replace the stock faceplate, like the Ricers do with
colored speedo faceplates.
Anyone have any good ideas of how to do this ???

In the process of swapping in the tach from the 2001 into the 95 guage cluster. Not a direct bolt in but do-able
using parts from both clusters.....what a cluster F..k!!
