Title: ignition timing
Post by: segermech on October 11, 2011, 03:28:00 PM
When you set the timing for a 94 Sammy it's 8 degrees before tdc.  With the jumper wire in place to lock the advance.  Question is where the $&?& is this connector with 4 wires going to it.  one manual says behind the right headlight but there are only 3 wires there.  Should a timing check be this complicated?

on the older Sammie's I think you use a fuse in the fuse block, but if yours is fuel injected it should be under the hood, look around by the head lights for it.

The diagram on the hood shows a 4 pole plug.  The connectors behind the headlights are 3 pole so I'm lost.  I don't really want to start shorting things out either.  I guess I'll just have to avg. the mark on the pulley and go from there.

The connector is by the battery.  It should have a black rubber cap on it.

Well you had me wondering where it was so I popped the hood on my Neighbors 1990 and found it behind the battery on the fire wall, it is hooked to the main wiring harness and can hide behind it.

I found it tucked behind the battery on the main harness.  Wow that was easy.
