hi i have a 1998 1.8L kick sport
and i wanted to replace my belted fan with a electric setup
like a universal 16" 12v / 120w fan
any thoughts on this? and or recommendation.

Unless you are doing a cheep fix because of a damaged fan or clutch,
keep the stock fan, it will cool better and it really doesn't reduce your
fuel mileage enough to even worry about

I agree with Wild, but if your intent on going electric, I've got a couple of Flexalite's, 14 and 16" the 16 with custom mounts that bolt in place of the stock fan shroud, made of aluminum, and will bolt right in. None of that radiator ripping plastic tie crap. $30 + shipping if your interested. The electric fan does make it easier to keep your engine bay cleaner, you can shut it off when in deep water or mud or when not needed.

My Tracker has an electric fan that has a switch and I have forgotten to turn it on before, I need to find something like a heated mirror switch that is on a timer and wire it up backwards with a relay so when you activate the switch it powers fan off only for a few minutes and you can't accidentally leave fan off.

On Drone637's Race car, we put the switch on the ground for the Power relay. We also ran another wire to the dual temperature sensor (one side has variable resistance for temperature gauge, and other grounds at 205 F) which is in cars with AC. At 205 F the sensor grounds the power relay and fan starts (same as the switch). 205 is higher than ideal, but better than no fan at all.

Sorry for the ignorance but could you possibly list the part number of relay/ temp sensor and how you wired it up so I can fix mine

okay thanks for advice i was thinking it would help with power and my fans pretty loud and my engine never seams to heat up
it never gets past 1/2 and thats even with me driving like its a sports car/ high revs.

You need to get a copy of your FSM (Factory Service Manual) so you can find out what wiring to tap into on your computer. As for the relay, it is just a normal off the shelf 12v relay. When the wiring was done on Project Trouble we were putting a 2.0 from an Aerio into a 91 Tracker so everything had to be re-wired anyway. Still, it was a pretty neat trick.
