Title: Before I start...
Post by: byrontrx450r on November 06, 2011, 11:36:32 PM
I posted this thread in the Sammy section, but threads seem to get more action here... Anyway, I swapped engines in my '86 with one out of a donor car. Its believed to be in good condition, just has been sitting for literally years. Is there anything special I should do before I attempt to start it? Other than fresh oil and coolant? I appreciate the advise..

some poeple like to take the plugs out and turn it over with the started just to get everything lubed.  You might consider draining all the olf fuel out of it and starting with fresh gas. The same with the motor oil. I like to use Seafoam. So i'd recomend doing that after getting it started.

If it had sat a while, changing all of the fluids is a good thing.  Differnetials, transmission. even the brake fluid. Of course these can be changed after you get it started.

I am not familiar with Seafoam. What is that?
