Title: Check engine light
Post by: FWD on November 09, 2011, 08:42:05 PM
My check engine light recently started coming on intermittently (now on for good). When on it runs very rich. The light flashes 4 times, twice. Is that a code I can look up somewhere? I've done my best to check all the vacuum hoses, dident find anything.
Any suggestions?  ???

Here is Code 44 Idle switch of TPS, open circuit

That is your throttle position sensor

The ECU has entered limp home mode, it is literally dumping a bunch of raw fuel in to be safe. I would check the condition of the TPS's connector, reset the ECU and see if it comes back.

If the ECU detects a bad idle switch it uses a default setting of 0.5V. It shouldn't have too much effect, that exactly how all the later ECUs work (no idle switch on those). You should check that the TPS is correctly adjusted and that there are no bad spots on the TPS itself.
