Title: temperature coolant sensor question (1 wire to gauge)
Post by: TrackerJoe on November 10, 2011, 02:18:59 AM
So....I broke the spade connector where it flares out in a "c" shape to go around the sensor. How to repair/replace? Try soldering it? Anyone have a spare connector?

I'd suggest replacing - it is possible to solder it, but you need to be very careful, it IS possible to overheat the sensor & destroy it - I broke mine twice, fixed it the first time and destroyed it the second.

It is highly doubtfull you can repair it without damaging the internal resistance which would skew the output. They are cheap enough at most any auto parts store. It does not have any impact upon the engine controls and is for dash gauge info only, as long as you havnt had any overheating issues that need constant monitoring, it can be put off for awhile.

Does the spade connector come on the sensor? I guess it did. I will just get another one if so.

Yes, the spade connector is made as part of the sensor.
