Hello everyone. I am sure there is a thread on here regaurding this topic, but I didn't have much luck with search. At any rate, I installed a used engine in my 86 sammy. The engine is believed to be in good condition, but has been sitting for years. I lubed the cylinders, put fresh oil in, and turned it over. Would not start.
I figured out by holding a spark plug wire to ground that I have no spark. I then did the same with the coil wire coming right from the coil, still nothing. Could it be as simple as a bad coil, or something else. The coil is the same one I was using before the engine swap. I appreciate the help!

Have you fitted the earth wire from the dizzy to the firewall?

are you talking about the ground wire? yes, but im pretty sure the engine that was in before didn't have that hooked up. Ill try it both ways. Any other ideas?

Try swapping or testing the coil (4 ohm across primaries i think 40k secondary) , if no dice
Swap Distributor from old engine see if that helps.
