if you make the following calcul:
27"(original tire diameter) X 7.214(samy high(1.409) X
diff ratio(5.12)) / 5.12(original diff) = 37.9" tires!!!! :o
with a 33" tires like yours, how work your speedo on the highway?

I don't remember how much her speedo is off, but I have the same setup in my lwb sammy with 35s, and it is spot on.
Hope that helps some. ;D

I think I can answer for Heather. *grin*
Our stock size tires always read ~6% faster then actual speed.
Meaning with our 215sx75x15s, when doing about ~75mph actual speed it read ~80mph.
We were not 'dead on' (indicated speed with actual speed) until we went to 235x75x15 tires.
Right now with our 33s and all of the gearing;
At ~55mph (actual land speed) we are reading ~65mpg on the spedometer.
At ~35mpg (actual land speed) we are reading about ~41mph on the spedometer.
Which comes out to about 17% off.
Meaning we have about a 17% gear reduction in high over stock.
In 5th gear at ~65 actual land speed (75 indicated speed), we run about 4200rpm with plenty of power.

In comparison to a stock -7 with auto/od and 5.13's, at 70 mph, tach is at 3000rpm, getting ~18/20 mpg.
4200rpm, wow. I'd surely hate to see the mpg on the -7 at that rpm.

What are the best choice?(manual tranny)
ott with 5.12 and 35"
or ott with 4.62 and 33"????
And i see this in about all of the Heather and Nate post...
??? *grin* ???

Good Darn question.
Not having 35s or 4.62s I can only tell you what we experience.
The 4 door with the 16v, we have LOTS of power at the end of the RPM range. Meaning that there is LOTS of gas pedal left when we run out of rpms (5000+).
I can only speculate with other options.
So to go to 35s with the existing 5.12s I don't see it posing a power problem. It will reduce the rpms a bit. But I think the motor has plenty of power to turn the tires and extra wind load, even at hightway speeds (65+ mph). My major concern becomes the axles strength (more leverage)...
But if we kept the 33s and get taller gears (4.62s) this would give us our top end speed back, a little more gear strength. But limit the tire size upgrade options.
Tire size is nearly everything, when crawling over obstacles. We've even humored going to 36s or 37s. Problem then becomes getting in the garage and again, axles.

While I do not have the OTT I have the same tcases.
(3 speed auto, tracker tcase, and sami 4-1 tcase with Toyota
truck axles. (4.10 gears.) with an 8v 1.6 the speedo is within 1.5 MPH at 50mph. This on true size 35" tires.
shifting is good and has good power for a lifted/modified truck.

Good, very good!
but what do you want to say by this word *grin* ???

Just what it means.
*grin*
As in a smiley, without a smiley.
We've also used *smile*, *smirk*, *laughs* etc.
A different way of getting the point across.
