So, I noticed that when turning sharp left the tire contacts the leaf spring. Is it common that as soon as you go larger than stock tire size, in this case 215's, you have to use spacers or new wheels with less back spacing to avoid rubbing? Or is this an alignment issue? Right now its stock wheels and suspension with 2"? lift shackles.

Does it do it while turing left and right equally?

Sorry, it's a 86 samurai. I only checked while turning left.

Judging by the response,or lack of, this must not be common or normal?

once acove a certain size without spacers there will have wheel rub...usually above 31 inches

I'm still trying to remember when my rig had tires that small, I think it was 2001, lol, and I went to 235x75x15 on the stock white spoke wheels and do not remember having issues.

were they P 235 X 75 R15 ?
reason i ask, my "92 sidekick currently has P 205 X 75 R15 and i have a 2002 malibu that i am about to scrap along with chevy in general due to coolant leaks, no filler/dipstick on transmission, etc. it has P 215 X 75 R15 and that would be a little larger for now.

I tried to see if it does it turning right also, I'm going to say it doesn't do it equally. It might not even rub on the right side but it gets close. So, now what, what does this mean?

Yea its normal. With any lift the unadjustable drag link will be too short and cause it to be worse on drivers side. Yes you should run off set wheels and a steering system that has adjustable drag link. I also moved the springs under the frame to stop it among other reasons...

Thanks for the info. After I get some of the deferred maintenance from the previous owner out of the way and make sure It will smog then I'll look at reworking the suspension,wheels etc.. It looks like a really crappy shackle lift, shackles are like this I I not this H.

1.5" wheel spacers will cure your problem for less than $90.00. Then you move rite along to beggier & better thingz.....
