Title: 88 Samurai hesitates and almost dies while accelerating
Post by: Zukedup on November 24, 2011, 12:27:28 PM
I recently bought this 88 Samurai and it ran go but not great. I replaced the sending unit in the gas tank and since then I have had this problem. I thought it was the carb so I just replaced with a newly rebuilt carb and the fuel pump looks new. I've replaced the fuel filter. When I put the new carb on it it ran fantastic for about 2 hours. Now I have the same problem I had before the new carb. What else should I do?

Is it and Original or after market carb?

Just an idea, check if it runs OK with NO FUEL CAP, or not tight. No Venty....  No Fuely
Also check Plumbing from ....Tank to fuel pump....fuel pump return line to tank....Bowl vent to canister....ETC.
A simple kink, blockage or wrong hookup can have erratic results.

The rebuilt carb I bought is OEM Hitachi.

First thing that popped in my head was a dirty fuel tank.  Might be time to pull it out and clean it.
