actually here in vancouver i see lots of samurai's, and quite a few lwb models too in great condition. as we don't get much snow in the city anymore, they don't salt the road hardly so rusty vehicles are rare here now.

the scrambler was actually the same wheel base just alot added on the back which made for a really bad departure angle. the jeep UNLIMITED is a lengthened wheeldase modle with about 5-6 extra inches past the rear tiresand 8-10 inches between the wheels. they have a 6 cylinder dana 35 front and dana44 rear that is base package. if they come out with dana 44 all around i will have to consider getting one.

I received an e mail from a Jeep Freak Friend of mine that made me think:

Got your message late last night.  Yes a scrambler (cj-8) is about 10" longer in wheelbase than a cj-7.  Interestingly, the new wrangler unlimited is also 10" longer than a wrangler TJ.  Thinking about that, I guess the cj- 8 would be one of the first XUVs that are all the rage since it has a removeable midgate (like the GM avalanche), and had a full top option so it could be either a truck or a wagon (now known as "SUV").

those jeep guys!

dana 35 front and dana44 rear

or if you realized that they actually have a Dana 30 up front... and that the Dana 35 was in the rears of Tj's if you don't have the D44.

The only true weakness of a D30 over a D44 is the ring gear. For all intense and purpose, the D35 is the main weak link.

Forget that, it would be nice to see one like in the Tomb Raider Movie. (http://www.truckstv.com/images/uploads/episodes/tk05_03200x125.jpg) Now this is a wanna-be Suzuki.  ;D
