I've gotten too many answers for this I don't know who to believe.
I think I have a nevada spec samurai but I'm not sure. Does a ca, carb samurai have a different egr valve or egr valve with a sub valve? I've searched here and online so I think this is a legitimate question
and while I'm at it, am I right in thinking I need to upgrade my cat?
-
I'm positive all EGR's are the same and Ca. now requires a OBDII cat. when replacing one.
-
Egr's are all the same as said.
Stock cat is the same to.
However, if you replace the cat in Ca it must be a CARBII type for Ca. But if it was replaced before the requirement or they don't look, who cares!! The new ones have a SN for theft reasons and are supposed to work better.
-
when was the requirement set? and are they stronger than the old ones? my bet is my cat hasn't been replaced for about ten years but I tapped it with a hammer and it sounded okay but.. it's entirely possible that it isn't
-
the egr and cat system should be the same.
replacement cat.converters that have been certified by california have that CARB designation, a licensed installer wouldn't put in anything else(in ca).
get it good and hot before smog tests.
my cat is not stock(2 1/2"in/out). i have passed smog with it.

heh, I'm not worried bout lack of stock just wether or not it works :P Cringed and had the shop to a diagnosis for 90 bucks, cat and carb were to blame
