Hey all!! Happy holidays!!! I decided to bring my little 97 tracker home to use a my daily ride since I only work one mile away. Problem number one is when I turn the key I hear just a click. If I try it several times it starts. Problem 2: my headlights blew out. I replaced them both this past Saturday and they both blew at the same time today on the way home from work. Yeah, it had to be dark out. Lol.
My friend replaced the battery cable and said the other should be done too. Could that be it?? Any advice would be great. Thanks!!!

yes. But you are going to need a volt meter at some point in time, the sooner the better.

Did you touch the new bulbs with your fingers or get any type of oil on them? They are halogen lights and any contamination (natural oil from your hands, any other type of oil, antifreeze, etc) on the glass part of the bulbs will make them run too hot and will make them burn out.
Sounds like you have a clicky starter problem. Generally, trackicks don't suffer from the clicky starter issue, like the samurais do. I would check/replace the battery cables. I would check all the grounds. I would check the connections on the starter and battery, to make sure they are clean and tight. Any corrosion can cause the starter to just click, instead of engage and start the engine. It also could be a bad starter, but those aren't too common, in my experience.
The headlight issue could also be caused from some bad wiring. If nothing else, check the voltage that is running to the lights (with the engine running). If too much voltage is being sent to the lights, then that can overheat them and burn them out. I would say no more than 14 volts (that should be about what the alternator is putting out, when it is charging).

My husband brought it over to a friend to look at. He thinks it's the light switch that's on the column and the sellinoid on the starter. We just put in the starter this past summer. But my husband thinks its all gooped up with dirt and sand from mudding. He said I beat on it too much. Lol!!! Thanks for the suggestions. I'll look it over this weekend.

Something as simple as low electrolite can cause this too.
Put a VM on the battery and rev it up, I had a bad alt that was putting out 17 volts!!
