Title: trouble shooting engine misfire, 96 x-90

1.6 16 v 96 x-90 auto, engine runs fine until I put the auto transmission in drive then it develops a misfire.

Have you changed plugs and wires? Any CEL codes? EGR system may need to be checked,cleaned.

Thanks talon, i pulled up a iat code & fixed that, plugs, cap & wires were done also,will chk the egr now, i hope thats it,i'll let ya know! ??? ???

I would also check the 02 sensor.  Sometimes a bad 02 can cause some weirdness.

Also a cracked exhaust mani(usually between #3 and #4) can cause a over rich condition resulting in misfires.

Did you swap out the module...diaphram? That was the problem with mine!

Misfire as in firing at wrong time, or not firing when required?  If is not firing properly when shifting into drive, leave in drive and pull plug wires one at a time to find bad cylinder.  Move injectors and retest to see if problem moved.
