I was getting a noise from the front of my 1.3. I pulled the timing cover off and found the lower timing gear has some play and the key is worn. It looks like they set too far back on the crankshaft. This is my first teardown. The washer is almost gone from wear. Does anyone know a good source for these parts? I also need a timing cover because the other pulley wore throught the front of it.

Its not uncommon, a previous owner didn't tighten the centre bolt sufficiently.

You should replace the front seal and then you will need to clean up the area augered out by the key, put the new key in place and build up the messed up area with JB-Weld. Apply permatex sleeve retainer to the crank snout and NEW lower cog and slide it onto the repaired key. Then install the new bolt and torque to the proper spec(very, very important). I think low range even has a kit with the lower cog, key and bolt for the 1.3 cause I just got a kit for the 1.6.

Thanks for the responses. I have looked a low range's web site. They must not have everything listed there. I will give them a call. I just got my second sammi today. It has a weber. It will not go over45mph. It runs very smooth and the engine was recently rebuilt. The cat was removed from it and fuel filter replaced but no improvement. Does anyone have any suggestions on that? I probable should start a new post for it.
Thanks again.
