This year's EJS is fast approaching. Whith much deliberation, we've decided to refocus our efforts this year and will be hosting two adventure activities instead. In mid-June we'll be looking for aliens and top secret military aircraft in an Assault on Area 51 adventure, then in mid-August we'll be headed towards the middle of the USA to explore the Rockies of Colorado. Look for announcements on these events soon.
We look to go back to Moab in 2013 so, mark your calendars.
In the meantime, please feel free to use this forum or our FB group page to hook up with other Suzuki fans that will be in Moab this year. I do know there is a fairly large contingent coming from the SORD group.
Have fun and take lots of pictures to share.

I totally agree! 8)
I'm looking forward to the Rockies exploration. 8)

It'll be fun.
There are quite a few 'Zukfari regulars going this year though. So for those that still want to go, there should be plenty of good Suzuki enthusiast folk to hook up with.

We had a blast at MOAB Zukafari last year and having making plans on returning again this year. It didn't take much talking to get Drone637 and Moonzuk52 get their vacations scheduled and come also. We would like to meet up with other Zuk's for a fun time running trails.

I think another group sponsored by Low Range Offroad and Zuks Offroad are going for a Memorial Weekend event too. I think that weekend is much better weather wise than the Easter weekend. Easter weekend can be a little cool to downright freezing & snowy depending on the year. Taking off work and driving 1,200 miles to get there, only to be snowed out, is no fun.
I'm actually comtemplating doing both the Memorial Day at Moab run and the Rockies Run. The Rockies run is a definite go for me though. Which town do you think this run will be based out of?
-
We have scheduled vacations to deal with, so will do best we can. We have three rigs going, so will have a group to run as many trails as we can after driving 1200 miles to get there. It is always fun to meet up with other Zukers and run with them.

Any idea on the Colorado dates? I'm trying to get my brother and his kids to go, but school starts back up on 17 Aug. I'm sure that others might have a similar situation with school starting in mid-August. So if we could center it on the weekend before (11-12 Aug) at the latest, that would be great.

Hello Mr. Rash :) - Yes, the dates will be... August 12th thru 19th. I'll be starting up a thread soon with more details.

I just want to be there when all my friends and fellow Suzuki enthusiasts are there. Has a definate date been picked? Easter or Memorial day?

We are going to EJS, hope to see you again.

There is not an official Zukiworld EJS event this year. Many (20 Zuks?) will still go there during Easter weekend though. It's too early in April for me-still too cool, chance of snow.
I know that there are a couple of Suzuki vendors planning on a Memorial Day run. I am strongly considering going there on that weekend. Haven't decided yet though.

Warn Industries will be there, as usual. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I'll be able to bring my Sidekick, though. Maybe next year!

Hey Andy - It'd be great to see the 'terror' on the trails on Moab... You know, our Colorado trip in August is close to Moab... ;)

I just made reservations for March 31- April 3rd at Big Bend BLM group campground. We will have to find another place for rest of week, but will have time to do that. We are coming with two Trackers, a Samurai, and a Jeep is following us. We would like to meet up with other Suzuki's also.
Right now weather is in the 70's down there, it was snowing here yesterday. They are getting down into the 40's at night, and we are trying to get into the 40's most days. I know it can all change, but we are constantly changing and I am optimistic at this point.
Anyone else going to be there?

We'll be there! Just got the Sammy all ready for crawling (changed oil and put fresh gas in) planning on heading out of Eugene Friday after work and this year we're trying a new house almost right downtown main st, so we can get back and walk to get food! Our plan is to take it pretty easy first part of the week and want to make the Crawl readers ride at area BFE Tuesday, then hit some good trails like rusty nail and Pritchett- then back to area BFE all the rest of the week until all our rigs are done, should be a good week!!

Three of us are heading out Friday morning, and stopping around Twin Falls, Id. Then running on down Sat. Not sure where our Trail List is. We are planning on getting hitting Hells Revenge & side trails, Poision Spider, Golden Spike and Gold rim.
You will be getting there almost a day ahead of us. Need to figure out a good time place to meet up. Once the wheeling starts time to be somewhere else doesn't stand much chance.

Hi Guys,
OK, I have set me goal for EJS 2013 to have my Sami up and running. I actually have a goal to have it driving by October 31st 2012. By EJS, I want to have ARBs, on-board air and new drive shafts too. Maybe new axles make sense since I will have it all torn apart anyway. If I do that, a winch may have to wait.
What are the real plans for 2013? Does anyone really know yet?
Thanks,
Rob

I don't think there are plans yet. Depending on PTO I might be trying to make the run down, I believe BRD HNTR plans on visiting again.
Eric discussed hitting Moab later in the year for better weather. We had snow on the first day on the trails this year.

Easter comes very early for 2013; at the end of March. It will likely be fairly cold and snowy. Therefore, I have written Moab off until 2014 when Easter will come near the end of April.
However, if they make the run near the end of May (Memorial Day weekend), I would be very tempted to go there in 2013. It will be either Moab or Colorado-either way it will be a great time.

Maybe we will have to think about caravaning out for the events. I can drop down to I70 to head west.

It doesn't snow in Moab in april... If it does it's maybe an inch or 2, that will be gone the next day.

Down on the valley floor that is the case. Get to the top of those mesas and the LaSals and it sticks around for a while longer.
The town is at 4400' and doest get snow all that often, up on top at 5400+ it gets more.

This year snow was mostly gone the next day, and as Rob says it was up on top of the Mesa's. We had 4" of snow the week after down at the Grand Canyon. Next year its a week earlier March 23-31.
We had a good time again this year, but didn't meet up with any other Zw's. Now is usually the time to schedule vacations for next year (mine is scheduled for all year again), so I can be ready.
