Post by: matthewefross on January 19, 2012, 08:44:18 AM
i need a new steering box for my 1993 suzuki samurai ... there was a lot of play , and recently raised the car and got bigger tyres and the play is even worse , borderline scary ... anywhere online i can order a new or good condition used box ?

Check all you tie rod ends and knuckles first.  Then you can adjust the steering box preload.  It is all in the FSM.

I agree. Check all the ball joints first....Then adjust the lash in the box, Be carefully not to get it to tight.
If all this doesn't correct the problem then your steeringgeometryy is out -commonn problem with liftedvehicless of any kind).
What type of lift was installed on your Samurai???? Can you post pics of the lift installed ??? A front end shot would be helpfull...
I have a spare box in the shop . If you truly need it . I will be less than happy to let go of it (as it is my only spare) But if you need it , I have one....Boxcar...

I agree with all that has been said above. I believe this fellow on Zuwarrie has a box for sale as well.

If so maybe Boxcar will be able to hang on to that spare a lil longer if he wants too.

A replacement manual Samurai steering box should not be hard to find. Everyone who has added power steering has spared-out their manual box.
TrailTough now has almost all of Hawk's inventory.  TrailTough is good folks.
