Title: Help, Shifter removal

Trying to remove the Shifter from a 94 Sidekick, have all boots off but have no idea how to remove shifter!. cannot find it in search. Please help.

acks faq! there is a factory service manual online there.

but remove the smaller circle boot at the base of the shifter on the transmission and there will be a collar with a square hole around the shifter, turn that a 1/4 turn to unlock it. then pull it out.

Make sure the tranny is in neutral and push down and turn the collar counter clockwise.  You need to push the collar down firmly, but not too hard, or it will bind and be hard to rotate.

Got it out! thanks guys, now only thing i have found was a broken spring. how would one go about changing it or can you because i don't see anyway to get ols one out and new in. sorry for sounding like such a noob!.

The spring under the collar on the shifter?  You have to pull the shifter knob off and work it off over the shifter.

I think you want to unscrew the knob rather than pull it off - also - I believe it's possible for the shifter sheet to disintegrate completely, leaving no trace it was ever there.

only thing under the collar was a broken spring and what looks like a seal on the bottom, I think maybe fordem may be correct on the sheet. I saw somewhere of a replacement for the sammy shifter. Hawksomething, do they have one for the kick?

Hawk Strictly Suzuki went out of business. But you can call Trail Tough or Lowrange and they will be able to help you.

Yes, it has to be unscrewed, I should have been more clear.
I have not seen a tranny shifter sheet disentigrate, but that's not to say it can't happen.

Hawk strictly suzuki did not go out of businss they are now a part of LOW RANGE OFF ROAD.
And as for the shifter spring you have to replace the shifter with the springand as far as iknow there is no upgrade.
