Title: 1.6 16 valve do I need to remove cam to remove head?
Post by: Sami Jr on February 05, 2012, 10:11:35 AM
Just tearing a down a 1.6 16 valve that threw a rod. to take the head off it looks like I need to remove the cam..... do I? and what size is are the hex head bolts? Also if you know is the water pump pully same on 8 valve and 16 valve? And I guess I will keep rambling with all my questions. Distibutors listed on ebay all say 1.6 liter 8 valve, is it the same distributor as 16 valve? Thanks, Sami Jr.

The cam has to come out, so you can get to all the head bolts.
The allen wrench that fits the head bolts is 10mm, IIRC.
Water pump pulleys and distributors are different between an 8V and 16V.

What do you consider "reasonable"?

resonable used 50 to 70 bucks and I need since I bought a 1.6 16valve and it didn't have a distributor.
