I know whem OME designed there springs and shocks for the track/kick it was not designed to use coil spacers. Why would you want to use coil spacers with OME springs and shocks. Will it not over extend the travel of the shocks and mess with the geometry of the suspension.I know some dealers sell OME set up with coil spacers and some without them. What is proper?

Slapping a spacer over OME springs is a cheap and quick way to gain a bit more lift. I have personal experience with that particular setup and can say the spacers tend to squish, and the coils will get soft from pre-loading them. OME coils, struts and shocks installed as intended ( without spacers ) are, IMO, a great handling, good riding ( many say better than stock) 1" suspension suitable for running a more aggressive 225 tire without compromising the driving characteristics and fuel economy of an otherwise stock Trackick.

I run a 3-inch Calmini-OME hybrid setup with jeff spacers: OME front struts with jeff spacers and calmini springs for the front and Bilstein 5125 shocks with jeff spacers and calmini springs for the rear.

Be careful you don't go to high without a diff drop. After 2" of suspension lift the CV joints start to get a bit of an angle on them, that is when you start breaking your front CV's.

how does the basic 3" alter ego kit get away with it?

They don't... Anyone know if their strut spacers are a full 3"? they look allot bigger than mine that are 2,25". With 3" of strut spacer you will bind and wreck your CV:S. I'm running 1" diff drop with 2,25" strut spacing, and that is the bare minimum to keep the CV:s alive.
It's a cheap nasty kit in my opinion. And 3" of lift really doesn't work very well with stock front A-arms anyway.

These are the options I went through on my way to lift over a couple years. You can see the spring differences.
Four door front spring on left, 2 door front spring on right

Raised outside edge of spring pad to straighten the spring. It had been hitting the brake caliper on hard turns when stuffing the suspension. That contact with caliper would push brake fluid out leaving me with no brakes for first stroke.

I dropped the diff about 1 1/2" to stop blowing CV joints
Just installed a set of OME 956 springs on front. They increased my ride height by 1 1/2 inches over stock 4 door springs with 7/8" spacer. Tall springs

I did cut off one round of the OME 956 springs as there was only about 3/4" of travel left.
I used Jeff's spacers in back. Now I am using a modifed TJ front spring in the rear of to level things out. I heated the small end and opened the coil so it would fit over spring cup, then I cut 1/2 of large end coil off with cutoff blade. Then I put it in 6" vise and squeezed it smaller so it would fit in upper spring mount w/rubber insulator.
