Im leaking oil from somewhere so I checked the dipstick and it says its good. Where do I look?
-
You look where the leak is?
Start by washing the area and then look to see where the oil comes from - there are several perhaps common "leak" areas, but unless you give us a general idea of where you're seeing the oil, we can't make suggestions.

you are lucky, gravity is your friend here, you need to get under the vehicle and start looking for the oil trail, you cant miss it, and then work your way upwards to find the source.
-
Common spots if it is leaking out the front is the front main seal. If it is on the back check around the distributor, the o-ring might need to be replaced.

Ok thanks! This is my first samurai and have only had it for about a week. i figured there were common places that people look first. It seems to be coming from the back of the motor and is dripping onto the drive shaft.

Likely leaking from the distributor housing and/or the valve cover gasket.
