Title: Lousy mileage 87 ZUK w/Weber Carb completely overhauled
Post by: BayCityDon on February 13, 2012, 05:07:08 PM
My first time with y'all.

Bought an 87 Suzuki Samuri manual shift that had been overhauled in every way 3,000 miles ago - engine, tranny, drive train - etc.

Has a Weber electronic carb.

Local Independent garage checked it all over and expressed the thought that it was in fine overall condition.

In 100 miles limited driving, it runs just fine just super - did put in a new 190 degree thermostat because the old one was erratic. Now the temp gauge stays steady.

BUT it seems to consume a lot of fuel

I plan to do precise masurements of gas volume/miles, but I  wanted to know:

1.  What is "normal" mileage/gallon NO offroad, no 4-wheeling, highway

I'll send more info but hope some quick smart observations will be coming my way.

Best wishes, and Thanks!

190 is 10 deg. hot . But that won't effect your millage. The Weber will though.
 I've seen Weber's take 5 mpg off the Zuke.....Boxcar...

This is a common question/complaint for the Weber Conv.
But MOST install a Weber set up for the BETTER PERFORMANCE, not Fuel Economy.

I'm running 31's, a 4.9 transfer case on stock axle ratios....getting about 18-20 MPG.
Also a Sammy is NOT AERODYNAMIC by any means........
