just got the top of my 8v motor today and was puting it together and the dist case that bolts over the back of the head would not go on, by about 2 mm. call mech., didnt know. called Calmini, .... went something like this.
they tell me that somehow my original cam/head was shorter. and that 'yes' theirs is longer, for my motor. they said that they 'do not' know why but this is a random thing on about 1 in 50 motors... what? any way they said just to grind about 1/8 off the end! i of course said 'why didnt you tell me this when i bought it!?' and they say well then all the other people who dont need to do it would be doing it... what? i came about this close (2mm) from busting a hole in my dist housing case!!! i like Calmini and they have a lot of my $$ but come on that was lame.
so there you go for anyone thinking of adding the hi pro cam to your summer mods, roll the dice (1 in 50 chance) and have your grinder ready >:(

YUP! That sounds like Calmini. I called them once about the dual sidedraft carb kit they sell/sold & the guy on the phone started arguing with me that "Calmini" never sold the dual weber kit. My question is why does it say Calmini on the filter element? ::) I guess there are 2 Calmini's out there. ;)
Now I don't bother calling them for anything. :P

i have dealt with calmini's less than adequete service before and i will never buy an inferior product again. i bought their 4.1to1 t case gears and the 5 1/2 super lift and the calmini 3" springs sagg like my grandmas tits. the gears blew up in 2 hi going like 5mph and yes i replaced every bearing when i installed them. in the couple of times i have called calmini i have been given the run around so i asked to speak to someone who didnt repeat the same programmed answers and got to talk to the head engineer, what a quack, he was allmost to four letter words and kept interupting me when i was calm and cool. they dont warrenty any of their parts even though they say they do, what a shady buisness place, forget them i love trail tough and their friendly service!!! btw i know he was full of it because i am a mechanical engineer myself. humph!!! :-/

forgot to mention that while just driving down the street one of my rock guard u bolt thingies in the front broke, the shock post fell off for no reason. it was annodized or powdercoated and the coating had penetrated into a crack half the way through the bolt so it was obviousally defective. they said it would take like a month to test it and get me a new one and i would have to pay for all shipping....and thats if they determined it was a defect!?!wtf

well i put this info up to help out others, i had no idea someone else had also had these kinds of pobs. i had always heard good things about them. and i really like their header... i was going to get my 3" lift from them, now i am not so sure..... where should i go for a sus. lift? customer service means alot to me and i am willing to pay a lil extra for it, but in the end porformance is the most important. ??? ??? ???

Same boat, looking at my next mod and it's a lift....can't get past the RRO or the Calmini.
GRRRR!
both sound great, but both sides have alot of bad issues too. i wish there was a clear cut quality champ in this area.

The best way to look at it is RRO is a lift, and Calmini is a suspension system.

Precisely. I say disregard the sometimes poor customer service (I've never had a problem with them, myself) and shell out the extra dough for the better kit.

u gota remember no ones perfect 24/7-365 everyone drops the ball once in a while..i mean the good comments vrs bad for calmini are like 100 to 1 favoring good
but with that bad customer service i wouldnt blame u for calmini not being ur fav..
i hope u have better dealings with them in the future (sp??)

I have been buying stuff form Calmini for 8-10 years now and have NEVER had bad dealings with them :-/ I have had to wait for an item to be built but they have always been very helpfull with my stupid questions and comments. I also have not had any problems with their products.
