Title: front end noise, front diff hoop?
Post by: Bfunk on February 19, 2012, 09:22:09 PM
I have a 98 tracker 2 door with a 3" suspension lift and 31" tires.  When I get on it in low range it sounds like the front driveline is smacking something.  I seem to remember someone a while ago talking about making a hoop that holds the front diff in place.  is this needed?  Any thoughts would be great... thanks
Brian

The front diff is fairly well located - rubber mounts at each end and one under the nose - what's this hoop going to do?

I have seen the front diff banging against the crossmember due to weak rubber inserts in the offset mount on the third.

The strap is more intended for when you install a locker up front in a stock aluminum housing to prevent the housing from being torqued sideways and shattering.
