Title: Offset Hood Scoop
Post by: zuki1018 on February 27, 2012, 01:57:23 PM
Looking to do something like this:

I want a scoop that doesn't need paint/body work.  Like a ABS bolt on product similar to how abs fender flares look.  Anyone have something like this on their rigs?  My preference is small so to offset it onto one side.

Lund offers the most styles of scoops that are peel & stick pressure sensitive tape.

I will be molding in a cowl induction scoop into and extra hood I purchased sometime yet this spring.

How well that tape holds up is a concern I have.  Maybe with the scoop facing rearward but I want one facing forward!!!

Lemme see... I have it on the side gills and the rear spoiler of my 01 Vette. I has withstood speeds of 140 MPH and has been on for 9 yrs.

I think it will hold just fine...

They had some small intake scoops at AutoZone. I was eyeing one up for a different project!
It was in the "Plastic/Chrome-y/Audacious" Isle.

Mike, Thanks for the compliment...  ;)

3M makes a good double faced tape adhesive for those items that you might buy that don't for some reason come with it. A couple of adhesion tips....:

Clean the area really - really well using isopropal alcohol. Stick 1 side on repeat the process on the item to be attached. Press them together firmly.

Take a blow dryer and set it on the high heat setting and go over the part pressing firmly until the adhesive becomes soft to the touch on the side.
