Do you mean any Suzuki transfer case????
 Any Samurai T-case , yes.
The 84 should have a shaft brake . Later ones may not....Boxcar

The 84 should be a SJ410.  Which, as stated, has an ebrake mounted to the rear of the tcase.  While you can swap in a samurai (SJ413) tcase, the tcase gear ratios are not the same between the two.  So that will throw your gearing off a little.  SJ413 tcases have a 1.409 high ratio and a 2.268 low ratio.  I don't recall what a SJ410 tcase has for ratios...but I know they are different.

Yes as long as it is a divorced transfer case passenger side drop. Dana 20s work well. as do the Dana 300.
The 20 can be regeared (Terra low kit) without changing the High range gearing : as it is a pas through T case. ( very nice )
And is absolutely bullet proof.
You will need some fab skills to do the swap: Mounts, drive line adapters , linkage , etc. Not a huge conversion......Boxcar...
PS: there inexpensive. A guy here in Astoria has 3 20s 1 divorced and 2 married for $350 for all 3....
