Title: Lift and tires(probably for Mike)!
Post by: Fredo on April 18, 2004, 01:46:28 PM
How are the minimum lift do you need to run 35" tires?

Fender's trimming are not a problem.

i will be running 35's(if not bigger) in the some time in the next few years and this is what i have come up with as a easy way to do it.
Calmini 6in lift
move floors back
trim fenders and bumpers all the way

that is just an easy way to fit them.  i'm sure their will be rubbing probs. so extra work will be needed.

You are wanting to do this on your Kick, Tracker or Vitara? Well, all are basically the same, however, the Vitara, if similar to the US model, won't have a steering box, but will be rack and pinion. This makes it harder for a body lift. Currently Calmini, well BlackKnight, is taking names for a body lift for the XL-7, which is the long version of the Vitara.
To fit such a large tire, I'd suggest that you overlook the need, the added expense of running such a size, and the setup details to get it to that point.
Mike Hagen has done a lot of work on his personally to be able to get his to run on the 35's. He's got a custom front axle, custom rear axle, custom mods to the Calmini lift, gears, drivetrain mods, etc. He didn't install it in a weekend. It probably took him years to configure his Trackick the way it is now. And probably he'll be the first one to state it's not finished.
Basically what I'm really saying, it's not going to be easy, cheap and done rather in short time.

4"+6"+2"=12" of lift  :o it's very high!

Yeah i i talk about trackick, vitara... but your sami look very good!

And for jugular7

I think about 35" but a 33" will be a good idea too.

And i want to run it easily with the lowest lift  as possible between 6-7 inchs not more.(my girlfriend are just 4'11" tall 100lbs. HUMMMM she are so cuuuute  ;D)

And i don't think that i can make this in one day, a couple of week or month probably.

I have the calmini 3" suspension and 3" body, with floorboards moved back, fenders trimmed, Hagens rear axle rotation and front end widening done. I have plenty of room for 35's on my Kick set up like this. I stayed with 33's when I bought new tires for Moab because I did not want to snap rear axles and CV's.

I run 35x14.50 boggers on my 93 4 door kick.  i have the Calmini 6 inch combo, 1" spring spacers for an xj, and a little trimming.  I also run 2" backspaced wheels.  Easy to fit the 35's, and I'm surprised how well the rig does with an open front end.  I think it's due to how well the Calmini system works off road.

We wouild say:  Let me know what is correct, and what is not.  You're doing pretty good!  Of course, a lot of the people who post here aren't much better at English than you, and they grew up speaking English!   ;)

I'll take a look at some of your other posts.  :D

Let's see, we might say:

My girlfriend IS just 150 CM tall and 45 Kilos, and she is HOT!

OK, most USA folks do not understand CM's and Kilos, but your girlfriend is TINY!  (and where are the photos?)

IS describes one subject... for example:

"The pan is hot."

ARE describes more than one subjects... for example:

"Those pans are hot."

If you are thinking seriously about running that big of tire on the kick, look at the pics of Heather's SAS conversion.

My kick is still IFS and on  35" boggers.  As long as you don't mind trimming a little, go with the Calmini 6" combo and see what else you need.  I have a complex that made me have to add the 1" spring spacers on top of the lift.

Rick with Hawk Strictly Suzuki was running 35 inch Claws on 8 inch wheels. The lift was 6" CALMINI combo with minor front bumper trimming, fender trim and a little rear trimming. All in all the trimming was very minimal. In fact, hard to tell it was done unless you knew what to look for. The car is a two door hard top with front and rear Calmini bumpers (relatively heavy).

Yea Hawks car did look nice with 35s. However he did break a rear axle.  :-/ Not that it is the end of the world to break an axle but its something to keep in mind. Also the power loss from a 33 to a 35 is quite large. Im not trying to talk you out of it ... just trying to make sure your aware of the downsides to 35s.

I did to several mods to my rig but most of them were wants, Not needs.

To agree with Mike, I also broke a rear axle.  Locking the front would help alot.
