If you aren't getting dash lights or acc it is more then just ignition.  Sounds like a dirty battery terminal to me, so your not getting good contact.  I would pull off both the terminals, clean them up and put them back on and see if it behaves better.  If either of them are a little loose and won't tighten go down to your local auto parts store and get a new set of terminals.

There could be an issue with the ignition switch

Did you check where the battery cable grounds to the frame?  Could be loose or dirty there.

Will your headlights work when it wont start or click?  Would indicate a grounding issue.

Is there a wire coming off the neg terminal up to the firewall?  Check that wire too.

How old are your battery cables?  Maybe time to replace them.
