How uncivilized, asking for Trooper pics on a Suzuki siteI had one before the Tracker, it was loaded with 32's and a rear locker. I sold it for $300, looking back, I shouldn't have sold it, I would have tried to put the axles under the tracker ;)

Any specs on your rig? What front axle did you use? Coils? Link arangement? What are the current mods that are being undertaken?I love it, I think it's one of my favorites ;D I'm glad you kept it in one piece, around here, there are none, it just hurts me to see people hack the body :'(
MikeQuote
Well the axle's are Suzuki with 5.12's and lockers, The lift is Rocky Road's 8" coil. I just finished making the ft roll cage, updated the rear upper sus link with the updated jonny joint style. The mounting tabs on the axle are being re-done to go around the axle tube for more strength and allow for trailer tie down points. There are some spec's on my clubs web site, www.rpm4x4.com/specs/joe-samurai.htm, Don't pay any attion to the engine size ( ment to be a joke).. Here is a newer pic with the 35's
here's my ride as it is now; 03 Tracker ZR2, 1inch front coil spacer, 1.5inch rear coil spacer, crown vic rear shocks, 30x9.5 cooper stt's on stock rims.nice tracker :P

What do you mean by flipping the strut?
In Portugal at least we have 3 diferent body, the soft-top, as you have it, the metal top, you also have it there, a like mine, the hard-top, that as as hood scoop that i though you also have there.
Yes i completely removed the front bumper which increased a lot the aproach angle.

you take the pice that the top of the strut bolts to and turn it upside down. puts your travel where you most need it with your lift
completely free as well

Pioneer CD, 8" Sub (no brand) and factory 4" in dash speakers.
Will update soon...
how does the 8" sound?
how does the 8" sound?
Like crap. it came out of a old home tower. I have it hooked directly to the CD (settings applied to direct only bass to the rear) unamped, no bass-blockers up front so whatever frequencies the sub puts out decent bass is canceled out by the blown fronts.
But it fits under the passenger seat which saves precious cargo space ;D
I kinda want to stick 6" mid-bass' (aka: mini-woofers) under each seat, powered by either a small amp or a pair of boosters...
here,s mine
Guess it's time for an update.i luv the front bumper ,man that thing is bad azz

Good luck on the Zukination kit...I waited 2 months after being told it would be ready in a couple of weeks (that was 6 months ago)...which was the same story my buddy was told over a year ago. Then when they told me the price, I almost shat myself.
Go talk to Clay at Evolution, they will make you one that is similar to the trailtough setup, for around the same price. They do awsome work. Wish I did that instead of buying the Calmini kit. ::)

Yeah, I know. I like to keep it subtle. Outwardly, all that's different are the mild lift, wheels, rock rails and mirrors. The operating plan is to keep things looking as "factory" as possible. I'm in a quandary about how aggressive to get with the tires and muffler now, though.

thanx hotrod but i probly should have washed it if you were going to do a CLOSE UP IT IS A PRETTY CLEAN RIG NOT THAT YOU COULD TELL FROM THAT PIC ;D
Looks awesome. how'ed the seats fit in?Well with me still being in high school some of my buddies are in a shop class so we made the brackets in there which on the inside of the seat we used an L bracket I think on the front. the back inside part uses stock hole. The outside bracket is a nice size I-beam lol which seriously weighs as much as the seats so we bolted those to the slide rails and then drilled holes through the under body and bolted it to the I-beams. I will get some pics up of them sometime soon on here or cardomain. For the 4 point harnesses they bolted into the rear left where the old seat went, the other side bolted to where the old seat belt went and the back straps bolted to where the old bolts from the rear seat went. But I will try and get some pics up here soon hopefully when it warms up.
any pics of the mounts and how you modified them?
I couldn't find the box for the shocks but on that shock body itself it said P289X ::) Im not sure if this is of any help, i will keep looking for the monroe part number...
edit, after alot of digging i found it, Monroe Part # 32162

ok here it is finally the cold air intake
ok here it is finally the cold air intake
cool
but dude, thats a regular aftermarket intake
a CAI doesnt take in hot engine air because it (typically) runs down through the fender
(or blocks off engine heat [somehow])

Yep. That's low-restriction (although also probably low-filtering...see http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/airfilter/airtest1.htm (http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/airfilter/airtest1.htm)...), which may help, but not cold-air. So far, I've stuck with the stock airbox; it's of a higher-restriction, but it also draws colder air from the fender. My guess is it's probably close to a draw, one way or the other. One of these days I'm going to implement a real solution; cowl-induction would be....cool....
i know its not much but it is a lot better then what was in there when i bought my track. there was nothing the guy had nothing there just ran off the plenumm without a filter
I am unable to update my post in this thread so I figured I'll just post again with the updates...

I have a sammy on the way for parts such as (rear disc's, and possibly a little better replacement for my ifs.)
here's mine, still have the 4dr as well.Hi Jay, That looks pretty good. ;D
this one has a couple mods........
Care to post details on how the lift was done, how much lift, and size of tires? Thanks.
-Bruce
lets see.......Thanks Jay, Yeah, That's pretty sweet. I'm curious, how much performance do you think you gained with the Weber? How about the MSD? I ran MSD (6AL) on an old Trans Am,and it seemed to work quite well, but I never thought about using it on a Sammy.
sprung over on rears up front. missing link rear, american racing wheels, wheel spacers, driveshaft spacers, breeze steering, 8000lb winch, front and rear bumpers with tire carier. new soft top, new seats, new guages, 1.3L bored out with a header, weber carb, flowmaster exhaust, msd ignition.
tub is rhyno lined inside,no rust, hella lights, new headlights,TJ flares, 32x11.5 bfg 's,
it is getting interior cage, my cb, and new front bumper.
i'm sure i have mised things.
I like the half-top setup.Me too.
I like the half-top setup. After swapping the soft top back on i really miss being able to lock it, how much quieter it was and the better visibility. The only bad part is the 2 person capacity.
Here's mine just recently modified...I sure hope Your heater and defroster work.

They actually work quite well, plenty of heat. I also have a block heater that helps keep the motor just warm enough to start it right up, I so love my Samurai.Good to hear Todd. Mine need a little work, but then again, I live in the desert, and my Zuk has worn a bikini top all winter.
All for under $3k. Check out the video of the battle with an $11k Polaris RZR that said he could go anywhere I could. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBCY2rA7JpA
have/do you use the 50 shot in low range?? lol how does it feel to throw 50% more hp to the 'ol 1.6?? haha :PHahaha, that would be interesting!! Im brave but not rich. Broken gears and nuked engines are not fun. It is a bit more than I want to throw in it. I have the NSX system so that I can change out the nozzles to give me 30 hp, and will probably do that for longevity purposes. As long as you run prem. gas, retard it a degree or two, cool down your plugs a couple of steps and monitor your exhaust temps, you will be good for 30% on a stock engine, 50% is pushing it a bit. I only use it in highgear for hillclimbs. The autotrans lets me run that, anything lower and I would be gone. The rig has been a long and slow work in progress, I tried to keep the major parts Suzuki, the manual trans, petroworks clutch and 22 spline front did not hold up well with the 35 inch tires, too much shock on the drivetrain. I swapped in an autotrans, and a 26 spline front. That is a good combo so far. I wheel the crap out of it and I really did not want to go to a Yota axle. It works great and I didnt have to swap Yota, Chevy or Ford parts in. So Im happy.

Thanks for posting this. The Polaris was impressive, but obviously no match for your little Zuk.

TopHeavy96: Looks good with those meaty tires.
I'm not sure I know what you mean by "new fender sides". I have contemplated cutting the top portion off some old fenders to bolt above the flat part of the aluminum. I can think of no purpose other than appearance. It would be easy tho, I might try it.
heres a couple pictures of mine as of now:

Looks good buddy. Are those still the 29'sYes they are. My buddy with the hard top said his tires are over sized, but looking at the photo, I'm not sure I believe him. (I didn't look at the size)
Oh to be able to get those tires easily in the US
Thanks, a couple inches sure makes a difference. That's what she said >:D
My second one is an 87 tin top.
Ballenxj, here my new top is. I really like it. Wish mine fit as snug as yours.Looking GOOD! ;D Just gotta snug it up a little more. Once I got the front part centered and tight, I pulled down on the bow from the back stretching it out while cinching the velcro strap with the other hand. Mine's CAMO as well, but it's difficult to tell with the light it was in. ;)
Nice rides guys! Man I really got to get me a sammi! Must..make..more money!
BTW Blingking, how you like those M/ts? They rock huh!
Thanks for the heads up I will give that a try.Ballenxj, here my new top is. I really like it. Wish mine fit as snug as yours.Looking GOOD! ;D Just gotta snug it up a little more. They ride smoother and less noise
Thought i would update my ride. I posted her up on page 42. Now has CJ/ RUF swap, longer shackles, and procomp explorer shocks. Still need a couple little things to finish it all up. Longer brake lines and some trimming of the relocation plates. But so far it has been awesome.NICE! 8) Looks like You're getting some decent flex there.
I am planning my own vehicle this year but the problem I am now suffering some problems regarding money.I think if you did a survey, you'll find this is the problem that plagues most of us. ;)
I am new to this sight, so here is my rig. That's quite a transformation! Nice work.
I started with a stock 87 Sammy.
Now...
Rebuilt Chevy 4.3L V6
Ford Top-Loader Tranny
Dana 18 t-case
Dana 44 axles with 4.56 gears and the rear is locked.
35/12.5/R15
Firebird MC for the brakes
Frame stretched 12"
Custom aluminum bed cover
Too many little things to mentio
CORA Zuki - I like the fan sticking out the front. Looks good with the wheel base stretched out on the 35" tires.
Go with the X90 it's just as capable and much more unique, turns a a lot of heads. We looked at every thing and then decided on this beauty that a friend of mine built. I little more custom work but well worth it. Check out our site GenerationX90.comYes, Those X90's have piqued my curiosity from time to time. I hardly ever see them any more though.
Here is my 94' tracker.
Calmini 3" suspention lift
Calmini ANVIL Front axle w/ 5.83's
Full Calmini exaust
Lock right in the rear w/ 5.83's
32x11.5 15 bfg km on 15x8 nascar steel rims
Not quite done yet, but close!

took off about 2.5" down by the mud flap, tappering it as I went down. On the front side of the I took a litte off the inside of the fender, and cut the underside of the bumper "in" towards the license plate.

Yep, same rig. I've had it for 4 months. I am looking for some Toyota axles so I can put a Trail Slayer kit in, but having no luck so far.

Installed Clifford matrix 50.7x alarm/w remote start, 2 pioneer shallow mount subs in trunk in custom fiberglass boxes. 2 mtx amps one 4 channel and the other 2 channel with a 10 farad rockford fosgate digital capacitor, infinity perfect 6.5" components for doors and rear. Dual/bixenon HID 6000k HID headlights. Stainless steel bullbar with axle bars and fender flares are next.

Hey everyone, new guy here! Heres a pic of my 96 Tracker. Kind of embaressed to post it after looking at pages and pages of bad AZZ Zuks and Sammy's.Nice job with the two-tone, it blends in great!
96 2dr Geo Tracker 4 x 4
Bright Orange Bedliner paint
4 door coil springs
Adjustable hieght rear Roll bar
Light Bar
235 Cooper ST's
Front push bar
PS... Thats not my wife!! :o
Nice job with the two-tone, it blends in great! Thanks DJ! She had her bumps and bruises, and even her share of cancer. So I did the best I could on the body work, taped it off , and then had my cousin spray on the bedliner. I was a little nervous about the color choice, but I let the kids pick it( school colors) and really like it now that its done. I'll dig up a pic from before the bedliner and you will be able to see some of her damage!
hay sno-xr nice to see you joined us here at zukiworld.com love the color of your tracker. Thanks for telling about Zukiworld!! Definitely better then the other place >:(

lol I think I joined Pirate a few years ago,but didnt really lurk over there much. I recently joined suzuki-forums.com and there are a few very arrogent (yet knowledgeable, thats the crappy part) smart azz's that seem to get their kicks out of being more sarcastic then straight forward helpfull. Id rather take advice from someone that is sincere, even if they have less knowledge, then take advice from someone that feels they need to show how much more knowledge they have then everyone else.Almost sounds like somebody joined Pirate4x4 and didn't like it...hay sno-xr nice to see you joined us here at zukiworld.com love the color of your tracker. Thanks for telling about Zukiworld!! 89 sidekick
31" tires
2" home made spacer lift
Jeckler - How are the Mustang struts compared to the factory Tracker struts, dimensions?I used the Mustang rear shocks. The front struts are OE spec for the TrackKick. The shocks about 2" longer when extended. I didn't check the difference when compressed though. I had read that if using the Crown Vic shock that you have to do something with the lower mount, like the diameter is different or something. These are the same length and diameter, so bolted right in. As far as ride, they definitely ride better than the 20 year old stock ones, but I don't have anything else to go on.
Here's my '87 Samurai. I bought it a couple of weeks ago and plan to lower it and get something closer to stock tires on it. An interesting side note is that after purchase I found the owner's manual in the glove compartment. On the cover was a sticker showing the original owner's name and VIN. Something caught my eye. I was the original owner. So the Sammy came home after all these years.
John
That's cool that your Samurai came home. How many years away do you think?Eric, I'm not sure how many years we had it before my now ex-wife decided she wanted something faster. Three years, I think. I have service records kept by subsequent owners indicating that it traveled to Connecticut for a number of years before making its way back to Texas. Along the way it changed from its original silver with stripes down each side to red and now its current black. So to answer your question, it took about 28 years to find its way home.
-Eric
