Title: Gimme a brake.
Post by: djjiz on April 04, 2012, 07:24:38 AM
New guy with a new problem.

1994 2 door 4x4 with a TB 1.6 and 123k miles. No ABS.

I lose vacuum assist in my brakes periodically. Usually at highway off ramps. When it does work I gain rpms when the peddle is pushed firmly.

New front pads/ rotors/ fluid and rear shoes are 60% or more.

Brake light has been on since I bought this and only goes off when I hit a good bump so I'm assuming rear springs are weak but I'm no mechanicologist.

Any suggestions before I throw a new booster and master on it?

Check the vacuum line to the booster and it's one way valve.

Sounds like the switch for the brake pedal switch needs to be adjusted for the brake light issue

Every vacuum line is new but I'll try the one way valve.

Is the one way valve located in the line itself?

Answered my own question..

So.. Now that I threw the check valve away what kind of replacement can I use and how much damage could I have done? Ive been driving without it for 1000k miles atleast.

Just get a new one, shouldnt be any issues then.
