An easy question today. Will a 1.3 starter work on a 1.6 8v?
-
Depends on the transmission. :)
-
Always complicated! 5 sp 1.3 Sammy to a 3 sp auto 1.6 8v 3 sp auto.
While I am still interested in the answer, the good news for me is that I found a good running but rolled donor vehicle. That will be swapped in wholesale. So, lots more time to sort out the accessories. My 1.6 8v, auto tranny, a couple of transfer cases, etc. Etc wil be for sale or will be used for a snow plow mover!

Yes it will.

can't you Count the number of teeth on the starter like one has eight and the other has nine?

I am getting parts together for a 1.3 to 1.6 swap. Unfortunately, my Sammy is in a garage about 130 miles away so difficult to compare!

It MAY not be that simple - I've heard of clearance issues with the body of the starter and folks grinding them to gain clearance - but - this was on the UK forums, and they may be using different starters because some of their stuff comes out of Spain rather than Japan and Canada.

OK, that would make sense.
