Title: Hydraulic compensator's/lifters question - 2.0L engine.
Post by: Mr. Smith on April 11, 2012, 04:38:04 PM
Long story short - bought '02 Vitara 2.0l engine with 102 K km.; on my way home while driving with 130 km/h broke upper chain, 8 valves bent. Bought head with valves from the local U-pull ('02 Aerio with 144Kkm), resurfaced, cleaned, gasket set coming tomorrow. Now the 1 million dollar question: after removing the hydraulic compensator's from the junk yard head I noticed that if you squeeze them with fingers they are soft while the other lifters (the ones from my original engine) couldn't even be squeezed, they are hard. Now, which ones I should use? ???

They can be squeezed because they have no oil in them, compress them and put them submerged in a pan of fresh engine oil and they should draw oil back in.
