I have a 1988 Samurai. We live in Belize Central America (no dealers within 2000 miles)
My self taught mechanic usually does a great job on keeping her running but now I have a nasty shaking of the steering wheel when going slower than 30MPH or over bumps and through pot holes. (if there weren't bumps and potholes we wouldn't have roads, they are REALLY bad)
So Johny my guy looks it over and asks my husband if I am insured.
He says I need a new or rebuilt center link, possibly called a drive link. He also suggested I get a replacement steering damper (stabilizer). We would like to find a schematic of the undercarriage so we know if we are getting the right part.
Once the part is identified then I will need to find where to buy it.
Thank you
Max

Sounds like he means you need new tie rod ends.

Thanks guys,
Thanks to Ack we now know we need Tie Rod right and left link center drag and a steering damper.
Problem is finding them, any ideas?
Can we get used ones. Found the catolog of parts but seems none of the standard auto parts places have them or know what we are asking for.
You are good guys, Thanks

Used you risk getting a bad one, but if you can find another Samurai you could pull it from that. How hard is it to have parts shipped in?

We have shippers that bring things into Belize all the time. So if I can find new parts I can get them here. We just can't seem to find any of the parts 'cept the steering damper. If you can't post vendors here you may email loretarandall (|removethispart|@) yahoo.com
Thanks

There are also the Over The Top steering kits, they come with new tie rod ends as well. One way to find out if this is the issue is to take yours off and see if there is any play in the ends. If so that would cause your issues.
If you search for 'Suzuki Samurai Tie Rod End' you will find a lot of options to order from. Hopefully you can find a part number that will cross reference to something a local parts shop can order.

You should also change the felts and seals on the front knuckles. They are part of the dampening system. these rigs are all over twenty years old and need changed I'll bet that is your problem and not the tie rod ends. there are several vendors that carry them. I got mine at Napa auto parts.
