New on here and new to owning a Suzuki. I owned a Geo Tracker until it took on a 3/4 ton Dodge pulling a 24 foot jet boat, the track lost...big time.. So I now own a 1987 Zuki, great little car, so far, the problem is the clutch. With the pedal out, it makes all sort of noise , all the way in it stops, going down the road it grumbles. I tried changing the clutch adjustment, a Little looser--a little tighter--no change. It shifts great, no vibration in the shift lever. I feel it is the clutch plate or the throw out bearing, any thoughts on it. If it is the clutch, anybody recomand a perticular brand. I am not a mud bogger, just like to drive the back roads and tow it behind the motorhome.

For standard use I would just put on a stock replacement or an Exedy clutch. No reason to go bigger if your not putting on larger tires.

Sounds like to me that the bearings in the tranny is what is making the grumbling sound. It could be the input shaft bearings. They would be turning when the clutch pedal out and they would not be turning with the clutch pedal pushed. They would be turning while driving down the road.

Thanks, looks like I will be pulling the transmission before I buy anything. I have rebuilt Toyota trans before so this one shouldn't be any harder. I hope.......

Do you hear the grumble when coasting in gear, feathering in gear, or during accel in gear?
Do you hear the noise when moving and slipping the trans into neutral?

Thanks guys, it's the trany, I am in the process of pulling it now. When I drained the trany, there was a bout one cup of oil in it. When I turn the input shaft by hand I can hear a rattle. The guy I bought it from said there was a leak someplace, but he didn't know where. I filled the case about two days ago and it is gone already. Hope no damage was done.
