OK I give up.........what trick is there to pulling the trans. Front drive shaft is down--starter is removed--drive shaft from trans to transfer is removed--that cheap little cross member is off--shift lever is removed--rear motor mount is removed--all nuts and bolts are removed. The problem is I can't get the trans to clear the pressure plate, its loose,( the trany ) I can move it around, but I can't get it down. I worked until it got so dark that I couldn't see, so left the trany hanging in the car. And who ever thought of welding the cross member in should have their butt kicked, why couldn't they have bolted it in !!!!
HELP!!!!!!

on the bottom of the trans in the front of it there is a small black plate that has either two or four small bolts.

I should remove them ???

The 2 small bolts that hold the plate on need to be removed, so you can remove the plate. The plate fits between the block and flywheel, so the tranny won't come out without the plate off.
Also, it helps to notch or bend down the front center of the plate on the crossmember that the tranny mount attaches to. It gives you just enough extra room that the tranny will drop out easier. A pic of what to do is in the 3rd post in the following link.

Thanks to all, the trany is out and on the bench, the bend did it.......

Ok, the trany is on the bench and I can't see anything wrong other then there was no oil in it, I topped it off 2 days ago and drove 40 miles, less then a cup of oil in it.........I can not see where the oil was comming from , no cracks or wet spots on the case but the area just behind the trany was very wet, this would be in front of the transfer case. I looked at the rear seal on the output shaft and it is hard as a rock and if you try to bend the outer flange it will crack. So, I think my only problem was the rear seal and no oil, the front input shaft feels ok, no play up or down or in and out, no sign of a oil leak in front. I am going to go with a new seal and the case full of oil, if it still chatters then it will come out again.
The vehicle only has 65,000. on it so it should still have a ways to go before clutch replacment.
