Post by: Autobot on May 24, 2005, 03:03:58 PM
I need to get a tow strap (A 20,000 pound min. -Looped ends) and an ABC-rated Fire Extinguisher so I'll have all the requirements for Gonzookin. Can anyone recommend a store were I could find both of those at a good price? Are there any recommended brands?

The fire ext shouldn't be more than $10-$15 and I think the 2x20 strap with looped ends was somewhere around $30. They have cheaper, lighter-duty straps also, but they have the hooks on the ends...

That being said, I run a 20 foot KEEPER brand strap in my truck as well as a 2"x30' Procomp recovery strap and 3"x7' Tree strap. The KEEPER strap came from the Tractor supply store and was like $35-$40, the Procomp came from National Tire and Wheel and was $29.00 and the Tree strap came from a cummins tool sale for $10...

get a 3"x30' strap ... if you can ... a bit more, but you'll only buy one.

I extracted a 5000lb blazer from a trail with a cheap 2" strap (and during the river crossing had a sami "helping" with another 2", me in the middle). They will get it done, but we we're getting pretty close to the limit.
