Title: 1991 Samurai with no fire...
Post by: rittwage on April 29, 2012, 04:04:31 PM
I just got back my ECM for a cap repair and put everything back together, but I still get no fire.  When I do the check engine flash diagnostic fuse, I get 4-1, ignition signal.

Originally I replaced by distributor and ECM, as someone stole them from the vehicle.  I replaced both parts, and asked for the color codes for the wiring because the thief cut off the distributor harness (blue/red->red, black/green->brown, black/blue->black/white).  That is all re-connected.

What causes that error code?  No feedback from the hall-effect in the distributor due to no spark?  It is spinning. I get no spark from the coil, but I have another one of those also and it tests OK with a meter.  The igniter and coil were left, they were working fine.

The guy that rebuilt my ECM said he didn't have a Sammy to test to make sure it worked 100%.  Is there someone I can send it to verify that isn't the problem?

code 41 is ignition signal circuit. check all wires in the plug that go to ecm they will slide back some times when you plug them in. took me forever to figure it out on mine

Coil, noise suppressor, and ignitor.  One of those or its associated wiring is probably bad.  Or it could still be the ECM.

Look at www.suzukiinfo.com (http://www.suzukiinfo.com) and go the the samurai section and there is a TBI supplement there that you can download.  It has all the codes and how to troubleshoot them in there.
