Since my Suzi Sami sold I've missed the little critter. I found a 2000 Chevy Tracker too cheap to pass up. It has some sort of motor problem. I'll post after I pull the head. At the very least, the cam chain jumped off. PO said it just died while driving.
Is the 2.0 an interference motor? Am I likely to find ground up parts inside or just some bent valves?
The latter is no problem. Actually, a rebuild is probably in order anyway (160K miles). Thoughts anyone?

Interference - and there's no telling what you'll find - bent valves is an almost certainty, but, you can also find ground up guides and stuff - I've seen pictures of one where the chain was sawing it's wat through aluminum after the guide failed.

probably cheaper changing the motor than rebuilding it. if you are from canada, i am using the kijiji.ca website witch i find at least 2 or 3 tracker/vitara for under 800$ each month, and they are running but with bad body and sumtimes with no 4x4 working( usually just a wire or an air pipe leak). i bought two last january for 900$ on kijiji.ca, both 2002 with the 2.0L i got one on the road and i have keeped the other one as a part truck. if my timing chain breaks im replacing the motor, its just so small and not enough of an pain in the ass to change it than messing around the internals.

Long way from Canada. Been to Toronto several times (beautiful city), but not planning another trip for quite a while.
I've rebuilt lots of motors so it's no big deal. I do plan to run this one for a while and build a good off road vehicle out of it.
My fingers are crossed it won't be too torn up inside. It looks like there are good sources for rebuild kits. Will post more when it's torn down.
