Post by: OFFROADKYLE on May 07, 2012, 01:59:27 PM
So I just bought a 1987 suzuki samurai. I dont know much about it. But a cant get it to pass emissions. Some one told me to purchase a webber 32/36 but will this be street legal in AZ? Thanks for any info.

Here is the link to the carb kit am looking at. I looked up local emission regulations. But cant find a direct answer. Just dont want to drop the cash and it not be street legal. Thanks

Probably not. Webber's generally run fat. And depending on your reg's . A non stock set up may raise sed flags even if it blows clean. I feel for you guys that have to deal with the whole emission thing...boxcar...

Where at in az?  Emissions is by county in the state of az.   Some don't require it to register.

probably easier to repair the stock carburetor/emmissions.
the weber is difficult to lean out enough, and you would have to find a ammeneable and carb savy smog tech.
i did it recently.
ca - az probably has similar requirements.

Poop. Maricopa.  Yea   I was living in yuma.  No emmissions there Haha.  Or in yavapai which is directly north of you.

I'am not sure, but do you have to register it in Phoenix?  I live in LaPaz county in the winter and we register at Parker (LaPaz) or Wickenburg (Mericopa) and neither require emissions.
