Has anyone made or seen for sale a set of full soft doors for a Sami I am thinking about making a pair for mine and am looking for ideas. (I have never seen a soft door up close on the inside though).
-
I have bought a pair with plans to repro/sell.
some time this summer...
What do you think folks would pay?
-
$200 - $250 would seem to be a fair price. Isn't that about what you paid for yours? ;)
-
I paid $300 shipped for used; not really relevant is it?
So you think new should cost the same as used? lol
This is precisely the problem; zukkers are cheap.
-
Sorry if I offended you... that wasn't my intent. You posted / I answered....
$100 for shipping was pretty high for what you paid for the Kay Line doors!
And no I'm not a cheap guy. I restore Corvettes so cheap really isn't a word I often use... LOL
But, I am trying to keep the cost down on this build so that I will be able to make $$$ on it when the time comes to sell it.
$300 is a fair enuff price depending on what the shipping costs will be.
All said and done would you want to sell the Kay Line doors? I don't necessarily need a new set of soft doors for a rig that won't be pristine itself.
-
no offense taken- --at all
they are oversize; I had them shipped to m on my own account, 93 bucks.
Additionally, I went to run them at the Zuwharrie event and realized they had pins instead of sleeves(like when you mod the stock doors)...so I could not even hang them on my cut hinges.
You may not be cheap, but zukkers are in general.(not a bad thing). Although in the same breath you said you want to keep cost down, lol.
I am busy with my regular canvas work, atm, so still unsure as to how long to build once I get them rolling.
I have bought steel and made jig to bend.
Some other soft goods in the works as well.
I actually think that I will end up making them 2 piece; upper/lower, as it would help the shipping issue and give added benefit.
...eventually :P

Yeah I said keep cost down because I am getting close to having $6K in this Zuk and I don't have it painted yet. I don't think anybody is gonna wanna pay what i have in it now...... Good thing I like driven it...
Another good thing if you decide to split the doors is that I did read where you have several folks interested in 1/2 doors. You could "Kill 2 birds with 1 stone..."

Hey Ecoast,
Here is a related idea for your business....how about making a Samurai Safari top in something other than black? I would love to buy a new one, but every single one currently on the market is black.

I have them for my Wrangler. It is very easy to find a set for a Wrangler for under $200 used. I think a lot of people buy them and get disappointed in how they work and sell them cheap. They don't seal well and offer zero protection in a crash. I ended up getting a set of half doors for the Wrangler. I still have the soft doors but haven't used them yet this year.
