Has anybody heard of/tried these?
http://www.puresuzuki.com/h_d__axles.htm
EDIT: Oh, "now taking pre-orders". Guess that means they'll be available in October, 2005... ::)
-
little bit too much cash for my likeing. i would swap in a 9in before getting a set of those.

lol Pre order.......

$139 per axle? That sounds cheap! I paid almost $200 per axle for my nine inch replacments. You might think a nine inch would be Bomb proof in stock form but I bent 4 stock axle flanges and ended up buying some Superior axles for the rear. I havent bent any since the replacments.
Suzuki people are the cheapest people in 4 wheeling... Thats why we get ignored by any big vendor. We dont have many vendors avalible... comments like these are why. :-/ Id like to see us support the few vendors we do have. If you want new product to become availible this is not the way to get it.
Before anybody takes this the wrong way...
Im not pissed off...
Im not bitching anyone out in particular...
Im just making a statement ;)

Pre-Order?
Darn, I thought we could get them Right Now.
Knowing Calmini. Order them Now.
I'm sure a must have :D
Gonna jump on that list b-4 it gets to long.

I'm with you, Mike. I wasn't balking at the price, but you know how it goes... I pre-ordered both my Rear Swing-Arm Bumper, and my Anvil, as I recall. Seems I had a long wait for both. Steve has a track record for announcing new products WAY before he actually starts shipping. In my experience, however, it has been worth the wait, in both cases. A month or two AFTER I ordered my Anvil, we had a discussion about what COLOR I thought customers would want (Calmini Blue, or that yellow metal treatment like on the belly armor).
I wonder what Rick Hawkins would charge for a used stock axle? I think I paid $50 to him for the long inner 26-spline shaft that went in my Anvil, so I'm guessing a rear axle (stock, used), would cost more than that. $140 each for new, bigger, better, seems reasonable.

But not for long...

Hey, If I don't have to carry 5 spare axles around with me then all the better!

How about "or something"? You don't like gold, get a rattle-can, and fix it. Color is the last thing I'm worried about on my rig (look at my mirrors).
-
I had to pay $35 just for a pick it yourself stock
axle, $139 for a stronger half bomb proof axle
is a deal, I'm with Mike, custom axles will cost
you $200 each, so be happy these custom axles
are being made available for a reasonable price.

WHEN I WAS LOOKING LSAT SUMMER, I WAS TOLD YOU COULD GET YOUR STUFF IN ANY COLOR YOU WANT AS LONG AS YOU LIKE CALMINI BLUE ;D

I thought you were trying to match Wilds door ;D

I just wish they had the newer "5 on 5.5" wheel flange on the end.
I'm going to go to a disc in the rear and I don't think the four bolt will work.
Can anyone ask Steve about that? Or are they just using the Sami picture?
-
As of a couple of months ago they were going with the old axle style. I had asked him about these and he said I would need the older drums for them to work. I dont know if you could make them work with discs.

Think about the axle lengths. That picture is of Sidekick axles... I've spoke with Steve about the 5 bolt flange vs. the 4 bolt and unless a miracle occurs, it's 4 bolt. Never fear though, to run disc brakes all you have to do is make a 4 bolt to 5 on 5.5 adapter disc just like what is done on the Samurai.

Not yet, I'm in the middle of a T-case and Diff gears swap
I do have to get down the the wrecking yard and get some
parts tho, I'll pick one up then.
Next year my Kick will be one color, except for the flames
if I get them done.

I don't see the need, Eric.  I mean, I hardly use my brakes, so why do I need disks in the rear?  Not to mention losing the e-brake.  In fact, I use the e-brake more than I use the brake pedal, when I'm wheeling.
Oh, wait a minute - some of you guys have automatic transmissions... Brake-eaters...
-
I have a manual and the 4.24:1 gear set.
Here in Michigan the land of mud. In a good year I'll go through 2 sets of rear shoes. My front discs last about 1 1/2 to 2 years. The next set need a set of drums, soo...
Also, the disc's would help for high speed stoping. You know like when you get it up to 55 -56 mph ;D

Didn't think of that.
Thanks

Man, that's bizarre! I changed my front pads at 130,000 miles because I was BORED. Could our driving styles be that different? In the 21 mile daily drive I make from elevation 9,000 feet down to elevation 5,300 feet, I typically do not even touch the brakes ONCE.

I didn't say there was a need. For me, rear disc brakes are more of a want than a need. I upgraded to the larger 4 door drums in the rear and have good stopping power. In the future, I'm going to upgrade the master cylinder, front rotors, and calipers to 4door and probably call it good...

Must be the red mirrors!

Or you could always call OTT and ask for their full floater conversion kit.
*grin*

Yeah, that way, you get the MUCH stronger shafts with the rear discs and don't have to worry about the 4 bolt setup, only the 6 bolt stuff. Not sure, but I think the strength is in the numbers. Also, the bearings......??? Ned I say more?
HEHE!!!
;D
